Picturing Pollination
An interactive exhibit about the relationships between plants and pollinators
Picturing Pollination Entry Graphic
The first image a visitor sees when entering the exhibit. The graphic would be printed at a large scale with a brief descriptive text.
This is the first exhibit element the visitor encounters. It includes an overview of the mechanics of pollination, which creatures pollinate, and the importance of pollination. The visitor is prompted to open the tiles to learn about lesser known pollinators.

Picky Pollinators or Tricky Plants?
This exhibit graphic explores the range of specialization between plants and pollinators. It also describes the techniques plants use to entice pollinators. This graphic will accompany a self guided video game that engages guests to match plants with their ideal pollinator.
This exhibit component shows the process of buzz pollination utilized by bumblebees and explores the process of this vital pollination technique. It also includes an animation that is triggered by the guest so they can feel involved in pollinating the native blueberry plant.
Buzz! Pollination
2d animation of a tri-colored bumblebee buzz pollinating a blueberry plant.
Better Together
This exhibit element explores the relationships of butterflies and their host plants. It investigates how butterflies identify their host plants and invites the visitor to identify smells in the scent tubes so they can understand part of the process. I also created a 3d printed model of a butterfly foreleg for visitors to view up close.
Hidden Patterns
This exhibit element exposes the hidden patterns that flowers use to guide pollinators towards their reproductive areas. This exhibit section features ultraviolet light and bee vision by encouraging the visitor to look through scopes attached to the interactive panel.
